Disability Awareness Training Seminar
Date: Tuesday 19 June 2007, 9.45 am – 1.00 pm
Venue: ECOS Millennium Centre
This seminar will be suitable for anyone who interacts with people with disabilities, as colleagues or members of the public.
It will have a practical focus with an emphasis on participation. The format will involve presentation, discussion, video and small group work. It will cover a range of topics including:
DDA Employment and Service provision legislation – a brief presentation followed by small group review and discussion of DDA cases, relating to both employment and customer services.
Video – two videos will be used, the “Talk” video to highlight disability in general and extracts of the EFD training video used to highlight learning, physical and hearing disability.
Language Etiquette – An exercise on language etiquette will be undertaken.
Five key sections – These will highlight the key issues for hearing, visual, learning, physical and hidden (including mental health) disability. Each has a practical focus and there will be exercises for both hearing and visual disability.
The cost is:
Members: £30.00 per person plus VAT
Non-members: £37.50 per person plus VAT
The closing date for bookings is Friday 8 June 2007. Refunds will be given for cancellations received by Tuesday 12 June 2007.
