This seminar was held on 19 June 2007, hosted by Ballymena Borough Council in the ECOS Millennium Centre.  It provided essential information with a practical focus and an emphasis on participation.   The format involved presentation, discussion, video and small group work.   It covered a range of topics including:

DDA Employment and Service provision legislation – a brief presentation followed by small group review and discussion of DDA cases, relating to both employment and customer services.

Video – two videos were used, the “Talk” video to highlight disability in general and extracts of the EFD training video used to highlight learning, physical and hearing disability.

Language Etiquette – an exercise on language etiquette.

Five disability areas– highlighting the key issues for hearing, visual, learning, physical and hidden (including mental health) disability.   Each had a practical focus and there were exercises for both hearing and visual disability.
