54 volunteers from Ulster Bank HR made a big difference to the 174 Trust in the New Lodge area of Belfast, one of the most deprived areas in the city. 174 Trust provides a base for the local community.

Barbara Stewart, Ulster Bank HR: “Our Team was looking for a challenge that would have a positive impact on the community. We identified the 174 Trust and we met with them to see their facilities first hand and consult with them on how we could help.  The team was given a tight timeline of 7 hours to create a new garden space for the Trust’s children’s initiatives through a one day hands-on project. We transformed the garden into a safe, fun play area for children and their families. The Trust, children and parents are absolutely delighted with the space. There is now a mini football stadium with fixed wooden goal posts, two decking areas, seating with picnic tables, a fun climbing wall, secure fencing and a sensory garden. We also built a gas BBQ and collected money within the team to purchase a power washer to keep the decking clean and safe.”
